A state without laws nor constitution!
Every day it becomes more certain that the Lebanese state has vanished, and that none of the officials respect the law or even the constitution.
The Minister of Interior and Municipalities announced more than once during the past week that the Bahraini opposition conference will not be held in Beirut, and that he will address the matter considering that it is not permissible to hold a conference in the Lebanese capital targeting the regime of a brotherly Arab country. However, and despite official assurances, the conference was held, under the direct sponsorship of Hezbollah, and included a speech by one of the party’s officials.
What country are we living in, where officials do not respect their words and decisions? Are laws implemented on weak people solely, while it is forbidden to take any measures on strong and protected people, even if the cost affects the state’s prestige.
Another thing happened today and raised a problem about the state of institutions and law. The Public Prosecutor of Mount Lebanon, Judge Ghada Aoun prosecuted today by means of a subpoena Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh, in three locations: his workplace in the Central Bank, his house in Rabieh and his chalet in Safra. But she did not find him as if the earth had swallowed him up, or as if he was traveling.
Is what we are witnessing an actual and practical application of the law, or it is just a charade in the name of the judiciary?
Does such a country respects itself, citizens, and secures equality in implementing the laws, or is it a country that adopts the principle of summer and winter under one roof? Indeed, we are experiencing the biggest crisis which is that our law is just an opinion, and the Constitution is just a point of view.
Is anyone asking why we have reached this huge collapse?
