Shame on you, no other phrase can suit better the deputies who gathered under the chairmanship of Nabih Berri, to study the lifting immunity request of the deputies accused by Judge Tariq Bitar in Beirut port crime. The deputies gathered in the joint committee framework, were from all the large parliamentary blocs, only the two Lebanese forces deputies rejected, and registered their objection in the report. As for the rest of the deputies, they agreed on postponing the lifting of immunities, with the pretext of formal issues that have nothing to do with the core of the case, based on legal articles after they searched for in the “yellow books. So how on earth can the nation’s representatives continue their abusing of people? Have they forgotten scenes of the dead on the streets of that 4th of August afternoon.? haven’t they heard the moan of the wounded who were either severely injured or permanently disabled? Haven’t they seen with their very eyes how a quarter of the capital Beirut was partially or completely destroyed or damaged?
We are all aware of how corrupt most of our deputies are, and they are part of the system that plundered, stole and desecrated everything in order to achieve its interests, but what we were not aware of, is how unscrupulous they are, so they preferred to circumvent the law instead of revealing and confrontation, in any case what happened, wiped away the fraud masks, and proved once again, that those who have been accused, are afraid of confronting the judicial investigator, if Ali Hassan Khalil, Ghazi Zuaiter and Nohad al-Machnouk were so certain about their innocence, they would have themselves, asked for their immunity to be revoked. Wouldn’t it be better for them to be quizzed by the judicial investigator than to be convicted by the People’s Court and history?
Let the three deputies be courageous enough and go to the judicial investigator with their heads held high, instead of hiding behind stale articles and papers’ immunities, because the people, you immunized deputies, were without immunity on the fourth of August. You will be doomed by your conscience and your immunities, because it has all fallen apart, in front of the soldiers’ tears, who wept with the cries of the martyrs’ families. As for you, if you cry, you will be shedding crocodiles’ tears.
