“Sawt Beirut International” news bulletin for Saturday 20 November 2021

In today’s news bulletin:

  • How did Iraq deal with the scandal of forging 27 thousand university degrees from Lebanon?
  • Nuh Foundation to secures milk for children
  • How did Lebanese products reach the United States of America?

Hezbollah rules Lebanon, and the presidents, ministers and their vassals are just “compares” who perform formal roles that do not change anything. It is the conclusion reached yesterday by everyone who followed the events of the long “Mikati day”.

From Baabda Palace and the headquarters of the General Labor Union, Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced the happy news: Yes, I will soon call for a cabinet session. The news had a great positive impact, and many believed that Mikati had resolved the problem with Hezbollah and finally “managed” him to attend a cabinet session. But the joy was unfortunately not complete. The party’s sources responded to Mikati’s statement, as did the party’s deputy secretary-general, Sheikh Naim Qassem, who confirmed that the Shiite duo will not return to the cabinet table as long as Judge Tariq al-Bitar remains in his position as a judicial investigator in the port bombing crime.

So, we are still in the midst of the vortex, and what happened confirmed once again that the prime minister is theoretically the head of the executive authority, nothing more, nothing less. As for practically, the decision to dissolve and tie up is in the hands of Hezbollah, which says to the government permission to meet. Is this how Mikati understands the presidency, its role and its powers? Is this how he wants to be prime minister?

Is this how the constitution is preserved which is limited to the prime minister and the prime minister only calling the Council of Ministers to a meeting? What is worse is that the situation of the President of the Republic is not better. He has been wanting for some time to hold a government session, but he is also unable to do anything because the decision belongs to the Hezbollah not to him. Woe to everyone who dares to violate Hezbollah’s decision.

Is this the strong president that Michel Aoun claims to embody? What a miserable country, its presidents and officials, are just puppets in the hands of a party that many countries have listed as terrorism. Does this not confirm that we are a kidnapped country, at least until further notice?
