Between August 4, 2020, and July 4, 2021, 11 months have passed since the criminal bombing in Beirut Port. Today we should not be talking about politics, but it should rather be a memory of the horrific crime. However, it is crucial to look towards a remarkable activity taking place in the capitals of the neighboring countries. The papal dynamism started bringing effective results, so are we in front of a radical change for Lebanon? Probably yes, but developing this dynamic requires time and patience. However, does the collapsed country still tolerate waiting for solutions?
Judicially, a month before the crime’s remembrance, a batch of allegations were issued against senior officials, which we hope will be completed with other set of allegations. It is noteworthy that the attempt to blow up the judicial decisions began politically and among media. There has been prior plans elaborated to misbelieve the work of the judicial investigator, as some politicians or media professionals have become judges who know more than Tarek Bitar about the bombing file.
Is it acceptable to deal with such a serious and sensitive file in this recklessness? The most dangerous part is that some talks has been circulated that would prevent reaching the required results, such as saying that removing political immunity from ministers and members of Parliament is not easy. It was also said that ministers, for instance, cannot be tried before the Justice Council, but rather should be tried before the Supreme Council for the Trial of Presidents and Ministers.
Officials, do you remember that our immunity has fell in our homes thanks to you with the explosion of ammonium nitrate? Do you remember that within moments we died, get injured, and became homeless, while you are enjoying your immunity? Aren’t you ashamed?
When will the criminal officials realize that the crime of killing two hundred people at once drops the most powerful immunities? When will they return to their conscience if they have an iota of conscience yet?
Officials should be assured that justice will pursue them for all their crimes no matter whether they elude or escape. They will be first pursued by justice of the judiciary first, second by justice of people , and third by divine justice.
Whoever has lost a father, brother or mother will not keep silent this time, as well as those who were wounded and their houses have been damaged. Beware of evasion and escape, those who will not be met by the justice of earth, will inevitably meet the justice of heaven.
