Sawt Beirut International’s News Bulletin – Jan. 12, 2021

A brief of today’s news bulletin:

The state of emergency is likely to start tomorrow, and concerned authorities are counting on these restrictions to curb the hike in new Covid-19 infections and deaths, which has experienced an unprecedented record in the past days.

All preparations were put in place to achieve some success and contain the surge in numbers of infections and deaths, especially that this tough situation comes amid an economic and social crisis, where the faltering executive authority provides improvised decisions, with more exceptions than procedures.

A remarkable judicial development on the investigation line into the Beirut Port explosion, coinciding with the issuance of Interpol’s Red Notice for people connected to the ammonium nitrate shipment.

The government is still defaulted, and the audio leak made the matter even more complicated.
