Sawt Beirut International’s News Bulletin – Jan. 14, 2021

A brief of today’s news bulletin:

  • Curfew in its first day, and that’s how things went

The situation on streets was acceptable, but as usual some citizens tried to violate the restrictive measures, some of them succeeded and others were stuck in front of the barriers set up by the Internal Security Forces. These procedures have made traffic jam, but what contributed to the success of these measures and prevented movement is the rainy weather, which encouraged people to stay at home.

The first day, despite its importance, is not enough to draw an indication of what the coming days will be until January 25, the end of the state of emergency and curfew. If the results came positive, and the country witnessed a drop in the number of Covid-19 infections, restrictions will be eased, but if the situation remained as is, nothing will prevent the government from extending the lockdown and imposing severe restrictions.

  • Lockdown exceptions, what about the traffic jam witnessed on some roads?
  • Does people who got infected in Covid-19 and recovered feel any health setbacks?
