Mikati 2022 Edition: Failure abounds!

What effect does Mikati’s wailing have? Is it true that the policy of rotating corners is still beneficial and achieves the desired political, economic, and national results? If he still believes that, it is conclusive proof that he is in one place while the Lebanese reality is in another!

First and foremost, keep in mind that Mikati was never a man of forthright and unequivocal opinions. He follows a policy of creative ambiguity, as you don’t always know who he is, nor who his ally is. You also don’t know if he’s being completely honest or if he’s trying to hide the truth when he speaks.

Mikati, in short, is from a school that could have been successful in the past, when the Lebanese situation allowed for tactics and maneuvering. But this time he came to power at a fateful stage in Lebanon’s history, which necessitates taking clear and unambiguous positions regarding everything that is presented on the national arena. And because Mikati is not among those with clear positions, we see the stumble he has been floundering since he entered the Grand Serail.

Negotiations with the International Monetary Fund do not bode well. And the dollar exchange rate is swaying in the breeze. During his presidency, the Lebanese spent an unprecedented amount of time in front of gas stations. And the high price went beyond all acceptable and reasonable bounds.

What is currently going on between banks and the judiciary is a mockery of what is to come, and Mikati was unable to address its causes or limit its devastating ramifications at the national level.

Everything indicates that the timing of the 2021 edition will differ from that of the 2005 and 2011 editions. Is it inevitable that the Lebanese will always pay the price for the failures of their officials?
