Global airline carriers scrap more than 2,000 flights – FlightAware

According to the FlightAware website, global airline operators have canceled almost 2,000 flights so far on Friday, indicating how COVID-19 is hurting holiday travel.

According to the website, as of 8:20 a.m. Eastern Time (1320 GMT), 2,028 flights throughout the world have been canceled.

So far on Friday, there have been 448 cancellations inside, into, or out of the United States, according to FlightAware.

United Airlines and Delta Air Lines also canceled dozens of Christmas Eve flights on Thursday, blaming the spread of the coronavirus Omicron strain on their flight crews and other employees.
