U.S. opens $3 billion aviation manufacturing payroll assistance program

The US Department of Transportation announced on Tuesday that it had started a $3 billion aircraft manufacturing payroll subsidy program, which will cover up to half of compensation costs for up to six months.

Companies must make various obligations under the Congress-funded initiative, including that they will not undertake furloughs without employee permission or lay off employees within that group during the same six-month period. By July 13, applications must be submitted. Aircraft, engine, propeller, or component makers, as well as organizations that repair or overhaul planes and parts, are all eligible.
