UK economy grows by 4.8 percent falling short of forecasts

UK economic growth surged by 4.8 percent between April and June, according to the Office for National Statistics.

The announced figures fall short of Bank of England forecasts.

Official data showed that the expansion in gross domestic product (GDP) was volatile over the second quarter.

Last week, the Bank of England said it expected GDP to rise by 5 percent over the period when most of the economy reopened from lockdown.
