UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Wronecka, said Wednesday in a tweet: “Today’s signing of the contract for supply of Jordanian electricity to Lebanon is a welcome step that can help mitigate severe power cuts. In parallel, there is a need to work on overdue comprehensive reforms to overhaul this sector, which is vital 2 economic recovery of Lebanon.”

In another tweet, she wrote: “In my meeting today with @LBpresidency Michel Aoun, we discussed the need for stable and effective state institutions and progress on urgent reforms and elections to place #Lebanon on the path of recovery.”

She had tweeted earlier: “I thank His Holiness Aram I Keshishian for our discussions today on the important role that religious authorities in #Lebanon can play in promoting the principles of tolerance and coexistence during this period.”
