Minister of Interior and Municipalities Judge Bassam Mawlawi held a press conference in the building of the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces today, where he announced “a qualitative achievement for the Information Division, represented in the arrest of a Takfiri terrorist group that recruits young men in Lebanon of Palestinian nationality, to carry out major explosive operations with belts and explosives, using Rocket shells, and immersion operations targeting 3 civilian gathering sites, that would have caused many casualties.”

Mawlawi showed video clips documenting the process of seizing a terrorist network of Palestinian nationality. He addressed the security services, saying: “I congratulate the security forces, the brigadier general of the Information Division, and the Director General for the achievements in seizing drugs and dismantling the spy network, and the Internal Security Forces are the heroes of this operation.”

He said: “3 bombing operations were intended to be committed by a Takfiri terrorist network on Lebanese territory. If God forbids, these explosions have occured, it would have caused casualties because they are explosions with explosive belts containing shells.”

The Information Division revealed that “the places where the immersion network was planning to carry out its terrorist operations are: Al-Kadhim complex in the Madi neighborhood, Al-Laylaki complex and Al-Nasser Husseiniya in Ouzaaei.” A collection of weapons and seizures that were in the possession of the network members, were also displayed.
