A disaster may occur in the poultry sector during the next hour

The head of the Lebanese Poultry Syndicate, William Boutros, issued a statement, appealing to the concerned authorities to “the necessity of delivering diesel fuel to chicken producers and farms, warning of “a major disaster that may occur in the Strip, as a result of this situation, which may eliminate alive chickens found in farms and chickens in slaughterhouse refrigerators.”

Boutros called on the concerned authorities to “remediate this issue and take it seriously, especially that millions of broilers in the farms are exposed to death in light of the electricity cuts, and the generators stopped as a result of the inability to operate the ventilator in summer, and the water and fodder supplies stopped, while there are hundreds of tons of slaughtered chickens and their pieces in the slaughterhouses, and if electricity is not secured, these products will inevitably be spoiled.”

Boutros stressed, “This cry stems from a real fear for the future of this sector, because the continued lack of diesel as a result of the relevant authorities’ decision to stop the delivery of this substance until an inventory of diesel stocks with companies importing fuel is carried out, would eliminate the poultry sector in Lebanon.

And Boutros finished his statement, by “emphasizing the need to address the issue immediately, because it is not possible to wait,  few hours, and the disaster will occur.”
