Minister of Public Health Firas Abiad
The Minister of Public Health Firas Abiad held talks in Cairo with officials of the Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean at the World Health Organization, including the Regional Director of the organization Ahmed Al-Mandhari, his deputy Rana Hajji, and the WHO’s representative in Lebanon, Iman Al-Shankiti.
The talks focused on the possibilities available to Lebanon in light of the crisis it is currently witnessing to establish a fair health system at a reasonable cost. Abiad was accompanied on the visit by the Presidential Adviser for Health Affairs, Walid Khoury, and the former Director General of the Ministry of Public Health, Walid Ammar.
Abiad wrote on his “Twitter” account saying that the talks were “comprehensive and useful, especially as they confirmed the continuation of the firm support that Lebanon needs at this stage,” thanking “WHO officials for their good reception and outstanding preparation for the visit,” adding, “The message was clear, Lebanon is not alone.
