Abiad says, Covid-19 patients admitting hospitals are younger than before!

The Director General of Rafik Hariri University Hospital, Dr. Firas Abiad, revealed “bad news” related to “Corona” virus infections, noting that the patients admitting the hospital recently are of younger age than before.

Abiad wrote a series of tweets on his account: “As we expected, new Covid-19 infections are on the rise in Lebanon. We have concerns about the 30 percent increase in critical cases in one day, and the rate of positive tests exceeded 4 percent, which is the highest rate since several weeks.”

He added: “At Rafik Hariri University Hospital, we realized that patients who admitted the hospital recently are younger than before. In the past two weeks, the average age of patients was 48 years.” Abiad said that none of the patients under 50 years of age received the vaccine, while 5 patients received a single dose, and the only patient vaccinated with two doses was 86 years old.

Abiad said that the younger, and unvaccinated patients became the usual hospitalized corona patients, some of whom required admission to the intensive care unit.

“It’s too early to talk about outcomes or deaths. Given the failure to adhere to safety measures, the rise in Covid-19 numbers is likely to continue.”

Abiad said that this is bad news added to the tough situation that we are experiencing currently. However, while touring downtown Beirut yesterday, one would not believe that Lebanon is going through serious crises. Many decided to ignore all adversity, as denial and enduring hardships can be best the friends.”
