Abou Chakra calls for importing larger amounts of fuel

Head of the Syndicate of Gas Station Owners Fadi Abou Chakra hoped that the Lebanese state, and oil importing companies “would import larger quantities of diesel because there is huge demand for it amid the cold weather.”

Abou Chakra attributed the rise in the price of diesel to the global rise in oil prices as a result of the tension in the Gulf, especially that diesel is imported and sold totally in fresh dollars.

He pointed out that “it was expected that the price of gasoline would decrease more, but due to the rise in the price of oil globally, we witnessed a slight drop.”

Regarding the scarcity of diesel, Abou Chakra said that “the state has not imported this commodity since a month and a half. Companies are distributing, but the quantity is not enough.”
