Abou Chakra: This news is not true

Representative of fuel distributors, Fadi Abu Chakra, told “National Media Agency,” that what is being circulated on social media and some media about a meeting between the distributors and the Governor of Banque du Liban, Riad Salameh is not true.

Abou Chkra said: “There is absolutely no truth to this news,” considering that “such news leads to more tension and confusion among the citizens who are suffering  greatly because of fuel crisis , and he asked for accuracy in publishing the news,” he pointed out to  “a meeting held in the House of Representatives yesterday in The presence of the ministers of finance and energy, the head of the works committee, representatives and distributors, and the head of the land transport unions, Bassam Tlais.

“After the meetings that took place between the governorship of the Banque du Liban, the fuel distribution syndicates and stations’ owners, the following decision was reached: Starting from 1-7-2021, the Banque du Liban will open credits to fuel importers at the price of 3900, and consequently the price of gasoline and diesel will rise to 68000 Lebanese pounds. This is due to the inability of Banque du Liban to continue supporting these materials.”
