Abyad: ” If solution is not reached, many medical services might be suspended.”

Director of Rafic Hariri Governmental Hospital, Firas Abyad praised the (low- registration) Pfizer vaccine marathon that was held yesterday, inspite the hopes that more people would be vaccinated.

He considered people’s reluctancy to being vaccinated as a major obstacle, noting that fortunately, the numbers of corona infections are declining at a time when the scarcity of medicines and medical supplies is increasing.

Abyad added: “Doctors and nurses faced grave dangers during their battle on the front lines against Corona. Now, they find themselves almost empty-handed while battling other diseases due to the occurring shortage, this is unacceptable. This week will be crucial, because if a solution is not reached, many medical services might be suspended.”

He stressed the need to be careful saying: “Other countries that have better vaccine rates than us, such as Britain, which is witnessing a significant increase in new strains of corona infections. Through the negligence and indifference, we are witnessing here, and unless vaccine rates improve, the virus will widespread again. “In bad times, misfortunes come in packages.”
