Director of “Beirut Governmental University Hospital,” Dr. Firas Abyad indicated in a television interview, that “the Covid mutant known as Delta, is spreading all over the world, and based on the movement Beirut’s airport is witnessing, it is only a matter of time before the new mutant will arrive.” Considering that “We can’t know when the mutation will arrive, due to the lack of programs that monitor viruses’ movements.”

Abyad stressed that, “We are not safe from Covid yet, and the low number of  infection in Lebanon does  not mean that the virus is over, as it can change itself through new strains that spread quickly,” explaining that the immunity resulting from the virus infection can last from 6 to 9 months, depending on the patient, the immune system and the type of virus.”

The Ministry of Health has indicated that the societal immunity in Lebanon ranges between 40 and 50 percent, due to infections or receiving vaccines, and that 25 % of the Lebanese had been vaccinated.
