Prime Minister Najib Mikati has received on Thursday the United Nations Special Coordinator in Lebanon, Joanna Wronecka, who said in the wake of the meeting: “We tackled the priorities of cooperation between the United Nations and Lebanon, and stressed the importance of holding parliamentary elections, and carrying out all economic and financial reforms. I also learned about President Mikati’s future vision, and what matters to us is that Lebanon be successful and prosperous, but we need to take important and serious steps to meet the needs of the Lebanese citizens. Reforms must be enacted in the electricity sector. Negotiations with the International Monetary Fund must also be resumed, because it will positively impact Lebanon’s future.”
“PM Mikati has briefed me on the priorities of the government, and I confirm that the United Nations continues to assist Lebanon in all fields, especially with regard to holding the parliamentary elections,” she said.
