The exchange rate of the US dollar in the black market recorded between 92,900 and 93,200 Lebanese pounds per dollar on Tuesday morning, after ranging between 93,000 and 93,300 pounds the previous evening.
Meanwhile, economic expert Jassim Ajjaka, , expressed via an interview with the MTV website, his view that “the first dangerous turning point we will soon reach is how to finance the salary increases in the public sector. Injecting Lebanese pounds into the market will affect the stability of the exchange rate and push the dollar to rise again, leading to a price catastrophe. On the other hand, if dollars are injected, we will face a bigger problem due to the difficulty of securing financing in the green currency.”
