Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salameh, has responded to the decision issued by French judge Audrey Borot, declaring that he will appeal against it.

A confidential source revealed to Reuters on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, that French prosecutors have issued an arrest warrant for the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salameh.

The source added that the warrant was issued following Salameh’s failure to attend an interrogation session in Paris today.

According to judicial documents and two sources, the prosecutors intend to press initial charges of fraud against the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon.
