Deputy Prime Minister, caretaker Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Zeina Akar, on Tuesday welcomed on Tuesday UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Martin Griffiths, accompanied by the United Nations Deputy Special Coordinator in Lebanon, Najat Rushdie, Griffiths’ Special Assistant, Natasha Jabr, and Humanitarian Affairs Officer, Keith Stansky.
According to Akar’s press office, talks centered on the situation in Lebanon in light of the stifling economic, humanitarian and living conditions, and the issue of humanitarian aid to Lebanese citizens, which has been approved during the international donors’ conference held on August 4 at the invitation of France, in addition to the dossier of the displaced Syrians.
Minister Akar thanked the United Nations for its permanent support to Lebanon in terms of humanitarian aid and relief, calling for the need to further help countries hosting the displaced Syrians.
