Amnesty International has called on the Lebanese authorities to “halt illegal deportations of Syrian refugees” out of fear that they may be subjected to “torture or persecution” by the Syrian regime upon their return to their war-torn country.
Aya Majzoub, Deputy Director of the Middle East and North Africa Regional Office at Amnesty International, said in a statement received by Agence France-Presse: “No refugee should be returned to a place where their life is at risk.”
