The head of the Association of Insurance Companies in Lebanon, Asaad Mirza, issued a statement announcing that Middle East Airlines – Lebanese Airlines has never insured with Lebanese insurance companies.
Mirza stressed that insurance companies have never shied away from carrying out their duties, but rather harness their efforts in everything that concerns Lebanon and its interests.
For his part, the Minister of Economy in the caretaker government, Amin Salam, called for an urgent meeting on Monday with the Association of Insurance Companies and all representatives of the insurance sector to discuss the issue and find appropriate solutions to maintain Lebanon’s communication with the outside world.
He continued, “In this reality, we always remember the role of the Lebanese private sector, especially the insurance sector, which cannot do what other companies did in such circumstances. In addition, failure to review the authorities responsible for monitoring and supervising the insurance sector when signing contracts for public facilities of this size will lead to We end up with the same problem in every crisis.”
