General Michel Aoun, President of the Republic, met with Reverend Joseph Kassab, Head of the Evangelical Community in Lebanon and Syria, today in Baabda Palace.
The gathering discussed current events as well as current political developments in light of the living and economic situations in Lebanon.
The meeting was also attended by MP Edgar Traboulsi and Judge Fawzi Dagher.
The conference of leaders of Christian churches in Lebanon, which Pope Francis called for on July 1st under the title “For Peace in Lebanon,” was also addressed, especially since Rev. Kassab will be present among heads of other Christian sects.
In addition to the prayers he raises from time to time for Lebanese stability and the promotion of peace and coexistence among the Lebanese, the President presented his perspective on events and developments in Lebanon and a number of countries in the region, expressing his gratitude for the Holy Father’s initiative and his constant interest in Lebanon and its people.
In addition, Rev. Kassab stated that he listened carefully to President Aoun’s point of view, his vision, and the foundations which should be adopted to preserve Lebanon’s role in its surroundings and the world.
