Former President Michel Aoun has departed to Syria for a visit where he is scheduled to meet with President Bashar al-Assad, according to information from LBCI.
Later on, information from “Al Jadeed” clarified that “Aoun’s visit to Syria aims to reaffirm the continuity of the relationship and the strategic positioning, with Aoun explaining to Assad that his rejection of electing Franjieh has no connection to this positioning, and to indicate the danger of clinging to Franjieh at the expense of Christian consensus.”
