Araji says, the healthcare sector is about to collapse

The Head of the Parliamentary Health Committee MP Assem Araji said the prices of medical equipment fluctuate from one day to another, stressing that the healthcare sector is at a high risk of collapse.

During a television interview, Araji pointed out that “the former Minister of Public Health, Hamad Hassan before his departure has set limits for the prices of medical supplies, at a time when the guarantor institutions are unable to raise the funds allocated to hospitals, so the patient pays the difference.”

The Head of the Private Hospitals Syndicate Sleiman Haroun, confirmed that “guarantors do not calculate the price of medical supplies according to the black market price, while merchants adopt the importing price, therefore the patient pays the difference of the price.”
