US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will travel to Israel next week , where he will meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his counterpart Benny Gantz, according to the US news site Axios
And thus Austin will become the first minister in the administration of President, Joe Biden, to visit Israel since the latter’s inauguration on January 20.
The Pentagon did not confirm this visit, knowing that it surrounded the defense minister’s travels abroad with an aura of secrecy for security reasons.
According to Axios, during his visit, the US Secretary will discuss thorny regional issues, foremost among which are the security threats that Israel faces from Iran, Lebanon and Syria.
srael is very concerned about the Biden administration’s desire to enter into new negotiations with Tehran to revive the Iran nuclear deal from which the United States withdrew during the era of former President Donald Trump in 2018.
