Sheikh Bahaa Al Hariri tweeted on his official page on Twitter, saying: “Some political parties are calling for early parliamentary elections, believing that it will be the salvation for the dire situation we have reached today. We support free and fair elections, but early parliamentary elections are not the solution.

He added, “The priority today is not to hold early parliamentary elections, but to accelerate the elaboration and implementation of a comprehensive reform plan that allows for the recovery of stolen funds and restructures the banking sector to save depositors and help them recover their money and reduce the size of their losses.”

Sheikh Bahaa pointed out that “the most important thing in all of this is the necessity to hold a conference under international auspices, as His Beatitude Patriarch Al-Rahi called for, calling for effective neutrality, consequently, saving Lebanon and restoring confidence in it internally and externally. ”

تطالب بعض الأطراف السياسية بإجراء انتخابات نيابية مبكرة، ظناً منها انها ستكون الخلاص للوضع المزري الذي وصلنا اليه اليوم. نحن مع انتخابات حرة ونزيهة، لكن الانتخابات النيابية المبكرة ليست هي الحل.

الأولوية اليوم ليست بإجراء انتخابات نيابية مبكرة، انما بالإسراع الى وضع وتنفيذ خطة إصلاحية شاملة، تتيح استعادة الأموال المنهوبة وتُعيد هيكلة القطاع المصرفي لتنقذ المودعين وتساعدهم على استرداد أموالهم وتقليص حجم خسائرهم.

والأهم في كل ذلك هو ضرورة عقد مؤتمر تحت رعاية دولية، كما طالب غبطة البطريرك الراعي، داعياً الى الحياد الفعّال. وبالتالي، انقاذ لبنان واستعادة الثقة به داخلياً وخارجياً.
