Banque du Liban issued the following statement:
“Given that some banks and exchange institutions collect commissions for exchanging US dollar banknotes, considering them to be outdated or unfit for circulation,
The Banque du Liban would like to clarify to the public that the specifications of negotiable US dollar banknotes are determined by the “Bureau of Engraving and Printing”, an agency affiliated with the US Treasury.
It is also the Banque du Liban that determines the specifications of the negotiable Lebanese currency.
