Basic supplies prohibited from being exported

“We will start our work on Monday to take certain choices on export licenses, to preserve local consumption, and we will collaborate to follow up on the problem and take public decisions,” Economy Minister Amin Salam said.

In a news conference from Baabda, he stated that “regarding wheat, the data thus far are favorable in regard to the quantity that we have and the donor countries.”

“There are many countries that are self-sufficient, but there is an international panic, and those who have materials to prevent their export, but there are countries that are not affected and have stocks, such as Canada, that are ready to export, and we will take answers starting next week,” he added.

Salam emphasized that “monopoly is a red line,” adding that “the Ministries of Economy, Agriculture, Industry, and Security Services will be faced, and there will be a big security apparatus, to adopt the harshest degrees of prosecution.”
