The Minister of Environment in the caretaker government, Nasser Yassin, posted on the “X” platform:

“Today witnesses a significant increase in the wildfire danger index, especially in the areas of Akkar, Dennieh, Koura, Zgharta, Northern Bekaa, Western Bekaa, Rashaya, Bint Jbeil, and Hasbaya.

The dry weather and low humidity levels contribute to a favorable environment for increased fire risk and the potential for rapid fire spread, as we witnessed yesterday in the Chouf, Dennieh, Akkar, Hasbaya, and other regions.

Some of the essential steps and guidelines that citizens must consider to prevent wildfires:

Do not light fires outdoors for any reason, including burning agricultural waste and dry grass.

Dispose of cigarettes, charcoal, or any other flammable materials responsibly, cleanly, and safely.

Immediately report any smoke or fire to the Civil Defense and relevant authorities.”
