In a chat with the media in Ain El-Tineh, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri confirmed that he will not call for a presidential election session until after the completion of the reform laws required by the International Monetary Fund.

As for whether a government would be formed, Berri said: “If a miracle happens, it will be formed.” I called Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati and asked him to hold a session between the three presidents, or between him and President Michel Aoun on Monday on Army Day.

On the issue of demarcating the maritime borders, Berri stressed that “Lebanon wants the whole field of Qana, either all of it, or forget about it.” And about the return of the mediator, Amos Hochstein: “Tomorrow you will have a definitive answer, and hopefully, going to Naqoura which is better than going to somewhere else.”

Berri concluded, commenting on the presidential election, by saying: “The president of the republic must have a Christian flavor and an Islamic flavor, but the most important thing is that he has a national flavor.”
