Berri Meets Iranian FM, Receives Independence Day Greetings from US President

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and his accompanying delegation were received by House Speaker Nabih Berri this afternoon at Ain El-Tineh Palace.

The talks focused on the current political and field developments in light of Israel’s ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip and the Lebanese border villages with occupied Palestine, as well as the general state of affairs in Lebanon and the region.

Speaker Berri received a congratulations cable from US President Joe Biden on Lebanon’s 80th Independence Day, highlighting the two countries’ shared commitment to regional stability and prosperity and stressing the critical role that long-term ties between the US and Lebanon play in securing a brighter future for their respective populations as well as for all people in the region.

Biden also stressed that “the United States will continue to work closely with Lebanon and partners in the Middle East region to maintain peace and prevent the expansion of the conflict,” while looking forward to “working to formulate a safer, more prosperous, and more integrated future for the peoples of the region.”
