Blinken to Mikati: We support government’s efforts to restore stability and economic recovery.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met Prime Minister Najib Mikati, on the sidelines of the Climate Summit in Glasgow. Blinken conveyed to Mikati the special importance and affection that US President Joe Biden has for Lebanon, and for its stability and recovery.
Blinken, and during his meeting with Mikati, renewed support for the government’s efforts to restore stability, achieve economic recovery, and the ongoing negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, leading to the organization of parliamentary elections.
For his part, President Mikati presented the government’s approach to achieving political, economic and social stability in Lebanon, despite the dire circumstances at all levels. He also presented the diligent preparations to launch the economic pla,n and start communicating with the International Monetary Fund, requesting the United States’ support in this course.
President Mikati also reiterated what he conveyed yesterday to President Biden, regarding his gratitude and appreciation, for appointing the Lebanese-born daughter of Tripoli, Sarah Minkara, as a special presidential advisor for the rights of people with special needs.
