Baalbek-Hermel governor Bashir Khodr announced on Friday that the bodies of two women and two children were found after they went missing in the barren area of Lebanon’s Ainata village.
Khodr wrote on Twitter that the bodies were recovered following strenuous efforts by the civil defense teams, the army and the security forces, noting that the deceased were all Syrian nationals.
“They died due to extreme cold,” he said, noting that an investigation will be opened into the matter with the Lebanese person who had previously accompanied them in order to reveal whether he was involved in a human trafficking operation.
No further details were available.
Bachir Khodr (@BachirKhodr) March 26, 2021
