The European Union’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, revealed in a statement that the sanctions’ framework against Lebanon will be completed by the end of July.
On his last visit in mid-June, Borrell confirmed that sanctions against Lebanese politicians are “on the table and under discussion”, hoping that there will be no need to take the relevant decision
He also considered then that “the crisis Lebanon is facing has arisen from internal, and not external factors,” holding the political class the responsibility.
Borrell described the crisis facing the Lebanese economy as “terrifying”, calling for the formation of a government capable of implementing reforms.
