Bou Habib: Lebanon is obliged to act according to its supreme national interest

The caretaker minister for foreign affairs and expatriates, Abdallah Bou Habib, reportedly emphasized on the “displaced Syrians” issue during the consultative conference with the Arab foreign ministers, highlighting “the Lebanese burdens, notably resulting from this displacement.”

Bou Habib said: “The international community is still without a road map for the return of the displaced,” stressing that “in the absence of an action plan, Lebanon will be forced to act in accordance with the dictates of the supreme national interest.”

He added: “Lebanon is collapsing financially and economically, and we are unable to secure the basic needs of the Lebanese, and the government sees the need for the return of the displaced to be financed by the international community, instead of financing their stay in Lebanon.”
