The caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the caretaker government, Abdullah Bou Habib, revealed to “Al-Joumhouria” after his participation with the caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati in the United Nations General Assembly in New York and the meetings they held with leaders and representatives of countries that the international decision boils down to “no return for the displaced,” and they will not be compensated if they return. Therefore, the displaced people prefer to stay where they are.
Bou Habib also pointed out that Western countries are more interested in the situation in Ukraine. In response to a question about the alternatives that Lebanon and Syria can consider, he said, “We will study the alternatives, and there is a specialized team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that is putting forward proposals. We will discuss them during my visit to Damascus upon my return, and we will listen to the alternative Syrian proposals.”
