Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib thanked Russia for handing over satellite images to Lebanon of Beirut port before and after the explosion.
In a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, Bou Habib said : “We will turn it over to the judiciary, and we hope that it will help uncover the truth of this tragedy.”
He added, “We consulted on ways to activate bilateral agreements, which would help in strengthening cooperation between the two countries, and I invited Minister Lavrov to visit Lebanon.”
Bouhabib added, “We agreed with the Russian side to respect the sovereignty and unity of Syria, while emphasizing that the future of Syria is determined by the Syrian people.”
For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that his country “has handed over to the Lebanese side satellite images of the port of Beirut before and after the explosion, hoping that they will help in the investigation.”
