Bourj Al Brajneh Mayor Atef Mansour said in a statement that Raml Al-Aali residents appealed to the security forces to speed up emptying the huge quantities of fuel stored under their homes.

Mansour said that “some of the reservoirs that store fuel are illegal, and the municipality has previously rejected the applications submitted in this regard, therefore, from a legal point of view, storing fuel is a violation.”

He appealed to “the security forces and all concerned authorities to cooperate in emptying these reservoirs rapidly in order to avoid a recurrence of the Tleil disaster.”

Mansour added: “Raml Al-Aali region along with his families and children are sitting on the crater of a volcano, so take the required measures to save them.”
