Brax warns, “the worse is yet to come” 

Member of the of gasoline Station Owners’ Syndicate, Georges Brax said that “liberalizing the import of gasoline will increase pressure and crises.”

He added in an interview on MTV: “In the coming days, we will witness an unprecedented rise in the price of the dollar, as well as a rise in oil prices globally.”

Brax warned that the worse and dark day are yet to come, and the Central Bank of Lebanon must secure the dollar so that we can continue.”

He added, “We do not want the people to stand again in queues at the stations, and we demand that the schedule of fuel prices be issued more than two or three times a week.”

For his part, the Head of the Unions and Federations of Land Transport sector Bassam Tlais confirmed that “the fuel prices schedule was used to be issued once a week, while two schedules are issued currently, and this procedure would be done three times a week due to the fluctuation in dollar prices. Tlais added that the government must act to preserve the people’s purchasing power, rather than listening to the merchants’ demands without paying attention to the people’s pain.”
