The Media and Public Relations Unit at the Central Bank of Lebanon issued a statement this Wednesday, in which is pointing out that “the Central bank, once again, calls on the government to approve a plan to rationalize subsidies, which leads to the protection of the most deprived families and puts an end to the rampant smuggling at the expense of the Lebanese.

The Bank stresses that it will not use the mandatory reserve, and that the payments currently being made are from outside the mandatory reserve.”
