Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh issued the following:

“Based on the decisions of the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Najib Mikati, in the presence of Finance Minister Youssef Khalil and Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh, on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, which stated the following:

In addition to the main articles of Circular No. 161, banks are entitled, in addition to the quota that they are entitled to withdraw monthly in Lebanese pounds and are now delivering in US dollars according to Sayrafa platform, to purchase US dollars from the Central Bank with the Lebanese pounds in their possession or that belongs to their customers according to the exchange rate on Sayrafa platform without a specific limit.

The Central Bank Governor would like to confirm that the Central Bank continues to implement this decision.”
