Circular regarding checks in banks

The Association of Banks in Lebanon issued a circular recommending the acceptance of all checks whose value does not exceed 15,000 dollars, which the beneficiaries deposit in their accounts with it, provided that they are not requested to be cashed or transferred after collection outside Lebanon.

And the Governor of the Banque du Liban, Riad Salameh, directed, in a statement, “all holders of the Lebanese pound, whether citizens and institutions, who want to convert it into the US dollar, based on Circular 161 and its effects and on items No. 75 and 83 of the Monetary and Credit Law, to submit requests to Lebanese banks, starting next Monday, and that At the SAYRAFA price, these requests must be fully met within 24 hours, and this offer is open and available daily.”

Subsequently, the Banque du Liban issued a second statement, in which “Lebanese banks, starting from next Monday and for a period of three consecutive days, must keep their branches and funds open every day until six in the evening to meet the demands of citizens to buy dollars at the sayrafa price for those who handed over Lebanese pounds and also paid the salaries of employees in the public sector in dollars also at the price of Sayrafa.”
