Lebanon’s Covid-19 infections, deaths continue to drop

On Thursday, the Ministry of Public Health counter reported 25 deaths, and 1,017 new Covid-19 new cases, indicating a noticeable decline in deaths and infections, despite the slow pace of the vaccination process in hospitals.

Health experts assured that the situation is getting better than before, however they warned of delaying the vaccination process, and not abiding to the preventive and safety measures because high risks still exists.

The Head of the Parliamentary Health Committee, MP Assem Araji, had confirmed in a previous radio interview that there are positive indicators regarding Corona,” hoping this will continue. He added: “We see relatively encouraging numbers.”

Araji said that the vaccination process will speed up between May and June, when the country receives an additional 900,000 vaccines. He added: “The individual initiatives will also help vaccinate the majority of citizens.”

He continued: “There are millions of people who received the AstraZeneca vaccine, and we take the recommendations from the World Health Organization before adopting any vaccine, and side effects of this vaccine are one in a million, meaning very rare.”
