Debboussi: If we want to build a nation, we have to get out of confinement and deal with international companies

The head of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Tripoli and Northern Lebanon, Tawfiq Daboussi, revealed that “he made a written request to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in order to equip the port of Tripoli with all advanced devices and scanners.”

Daboussi added in an interview on LBCI: “We hope that the state will not take us to another place, and that there will be talk of a concept ‘against Lebanese sovereignty.’

He explained, “My suggestion is not to hand over Lebanon’s borders to the outside , but to seek the help of European companies or others to manage the scanners, in order  to restore the international community’s confidence in our crossings.”

He stressed that “if we want to build a country, we must get out of the confinement, and deal with international companies.”
