An Israeli Institute for National Security Studies called for the formation of an international and regional front to prevent Lebanon from falling into the abyss of possible scenarios such as chaos or civil war, or Hezbollah’s control of the reins of power in Lebanon.
The institute briefed President Isaac Herzog with its annual report, which assesses the security and strategic dangers facing Israel.
“Hadshot 13” a Hebrew website, reported that “Iran was on the top of these dangers, as the report stated that there is an urgent need to stop the Iranian nuclear race, describing it as the most serious threat to Israel’s security and stability.”
It added, “According to the report, Iran is gradually acquiring the necessary knowledge and experience for nuclear weapons and is advancing towards uranium enrichment, in addition to its nuclear technological capabilities in operating advanced centrifuges. Iran is about to complete its nuclear project and has capabilities that would bring it closer to making a nuclear bomb within a few months.”
The report touched on the need for Israel to be prepared for a military option in the face of the Iranian threat, reiterating the Israeli concern that a collapsed Lebanon would lead to an escalation with Hezbollah.
It also warned against the Iranian permeation in the Lebanese regime, especially regarding the risk of the increasing accuracy of attacks, Iran could carry out into the Israeli depth.
The report pointed out to the role of “Hezbollah” in the region, considering that it is continuing in solidifying its grip on the Lebanese regime, which makes it a real and dangerous threat to Israel.
The report’s editors called for “pushing towards action on an international and regional front to prevent Lebanon from falling into the abyss of possible scenarios such as chaos or civil war, or Hezbollah’s control of the reins of power in Lebanon.”
