In a statement addressed to Prime Minister Najib Mikati, the “Depositors’ Cry” Association stressed that “depositors are still, to this day, bearing losses and paying from what they earned their entire lives, for mistakes committed by banks, Banque du Liban and successive governments.”
It pointed out that “the interests obtained by depositors are a legitimate right to money invested by banks, which accumulated profits and were sent abroad.”
The Association considered that “the government should immediately stop the daily losses incurred by the depositor, and transfer them to the parties who stole our money, transferred it and squandered it, we mean the banks, the Banque du Liban and successive governments.”
